Are you ready to do things on a far bigger scale

Introduction

Head of Property and Assets

A message from Sue Cuerden, Executive Director of Finance and Resources

Thank you for your interest in the role of Head of Property and Assets here at Basingstoke and Deane. I believe this is a really compelling career opportunity.

It’s a chance to operate on a scale that you will find in few other local authorities. Our property and asset base is valued at £330m and its debt-free status has enabled us to deliver up to £17m in annual revenue. So it’s a significant platform on which the council can build and a resource that has greatly enhanced our overall financial resilience.

The emphasis for this role will be on improving our strategic management and planning around this enviable portfolio. It’s about much more than maintaining what we have. We want to look to the future and identify opportunities to maximise the potential of our properties, both in terms of revenue opportunities and supporting the physical and social regeneration ambitions of the council.

Part of this will rely on culture change – shifting the way we view our asset base, and implementing practical changes to how we manage and maintain it, and how we plan for the future.
